Airport Transfers
  • London Gateways: Transfers can be expensive, particularly between the Airport and central London. When you book your tour with Trafalgar your transfers to and from the airport are included. It''s that simple. Trafalgar has included a Free transfer to and from your airport and Central London.
  • Important – Please Note: Passengers will only be entitled to transfers to and from London Airports providing the following conditions are met:
  • You are staying at a London hotel, booked by Trafalgar, on the night of your arrival and the night prior to the date of your departure.
  • Flights are either booked by Trafalgar or detailed information on flights is provided by your Travel Agent not less than 21 days prior to departure.
  • Only one included transfer both inbound and outbound per tour is included by Trafalgar. Transfers are by express train to a Central London Rail Station.
  • Heathrow Airport: Inbound transfers operate between 06.00-21.30. Outbound transfers are timed to connect with scheduled flights departing between 08.00-23.00. Transfers will be by coach.   • Day 3 - Frankfurt - Wurzburg - Rothenburg A short drive will take us to the old Franconian capital of Wurzburg, surrounded by vineyards. We will see the 18th century former residence of this episcopal city’s prince-bishops, the fine 11th century cathedral, explore the quaint old town, and drive up to the 13th century fortress of Marienberg with great views across the city. On to the spa town of Bad Mergentheim where orientation includes the old market square and castle. Then we drive on to almost untouched medieval Rothenburg where, after dinner, you may wish to join an optional evening walk of this town. (Buffet Breakfast/ Dinner

  • Day 4 - Rothenburg - Romantic Road - Neuschwanstein - Oberammergau - Innsbruck (Igls) (2 nights) After morning orientation of the town we will learn of the famous ‘Master Draught’ and have time to explore Rothenburg’s enticing shops. On our drive along the Romantic Road, we will make a picture stop and continue to ‘mad’ King Ludwig’s famous castle of Neuschwanstein. Then a short drive to Oberammergau, the beautifully frescoed village where the Passion Play takes place every ten years. Then
    via the premier ski-resort of Garmisch–Partenkirchen, overshadowed by Germany’s tallest mountain, the Zugspitze, we continue along the Fernpass to Innsbruck in Austria in the Alps and stay in the nearby Alpine village of Igls. (Buffet Breakfast/ Dinner)

  • Day 5 - Innsbruck (Igls) - orientation and at leisure Morning orientation will show us the Old Town with its Golden Roof and Hofburg Palace, the baroque Wilten Basilica and views of the Olympic ski-jump. Then you have time to shop for souvenirs or have ‘Kaffee und Kuchen’ in an open-air café. Later you may wish to take a horse and carriage ride or visit one of the many interesting museums in the town. (Buffet Breakfast/ Dinner)


  • Day 6 - Innsbruck (Igls) - Liechtenstein - Lucerne (2 nights) Our route takes us along the Arlberg to the Principality of Liechtenstein’s capital Vaduz, overlooked by a 700 year old castle. Here you will have time to buy stamps, shop for souvenirs or enjoy delicious pastries. We head into Switzerland through breathtaking alpine scenery to arrive at Lucerne’s Lake of the Four Cantons.   • Day 7 - Lucerne orientation and at leisure Orientation shows us the Chapel Bridge, the Jesuit Church and the Lion monument. Then there’s time to shop for lovely Swiss chocolates or watches, and maybe take a trip up a nearby mountain peak. Why not try some Swiss cheese fondue at a lively Folklore show tonight?   • Day 8 - Lucerne - Interlaken - Zermatt (2 nights) We drive along the Brunig Pass and the lakes of Thun and Brienz, and Interlaken. We’ll stop to admire scenery and maybe have some lunch. Then to Tasch where mini-buses take us up to car-free Zermatt where we stay for the next two nights. (Buffet Breakfast/ Dinner)

  • Day 9 - Zermatt at leisure Time to enjoy this quiet mountain village where the only vehicles to traverse the streets are horse-drawn carriages (and a few electric vans to transport luggage). You will delight in the atmospheric restaurants and cafés, the gorgeous boutiques and the green meadows surrounding the village. a chance also to take the cable-car up to one of the peaks and get a better view of the Matterhorn.   • Day 10 - Zermatt - Gruyeres - Lausanne Today we will leave the German-speaking part of Switzerland when we drive along the Rhone valley, to reach the Suisse Romande, or French- speaking Switzerland. Then a drive via Chateau d’Oex to the small traffic-free and fortified town of Gruyères, which is set in a harmonious landscape in the Sarine valley. We will visit the Maison de Gruyères and learn how this delicious cheese is made. There’s time to try one of the town’s specialities, the ‘meringue à la crème de la Gruyère’ in one of the old inns lining the picturesque main street. Then down to the shores of Lake Geneva to take pictures of the Chateau of Chillon. We stay the night in Lausanne, which overlooks Lake Geneva, and is home to the International Olympic Committee.   • Day 11 - Montreux - Berne - Black Forest (Villingen) A short drive brings us to attractive city of Berne, Switzerland’s capital. We will visit the old town with its ancient towers, pretty fountains decorated with flowers and statues and the narrow streets festooned with flags. We will also visit the Bear Pit where the bears that give the city its name are kept today. Finally we continue into Germany at the city of Basel on the Rhine and drive along the Rhine Rift valley to Freiburg in the Black Forest. Located on the banks of the river Dreisam, Freiburg has an impressive Minster dating back to the 13th century and is one of Germany’s greatest gothic structures. Then through the dark hills of the Black Forest via Neustadt to our hotel. (Buffet Breakfast/ Dinner)

  • Day 12- Black Forest (Villingen) - Triberg - Heidelberg - Rhine Cruise - Rudesheim This morning we stop in Triberg where the cuckoo clock was invented! We will witness master craftsmen at work and have a chance to try out some Black Forest cherry cake. Then down to the Neckar valley and the University City of Heidelberg. Here we will explore the courtyards of the Renaissance castle perched on the hill overlooking the baroque city. Time downtown to explore the pedestrian area filled with Student Inns – of Student Prince fame! Finally we embark in the village of Boppard for a scenic Rhine cruise seeing the legendary Lorelei rock, and a plethora of romantic castles and wine villages. We disembark in the charming wine village of Rudesheim where we stay the night. Later, why not take a stroll along the banks of the Rhine and try out some of the local wine? (Buffet Breakfast)

SIGHTSEEING: There will be a maximum of 49 people on the tour. You will ride in comfort, air-conditioned motor coaches, all with reclining seats. Your Tour Director will implement a seat rotation system, whereby clients rotate seats on the coach daily. This allows for all passengers to experience the different views from various seats and maximize interaction.

ACCOMMODATIONS: The majority of hotels have air conditioning but not all. Fewer hotels north of the Alps in Europe have air conditioning as a matter of course.

LUGGAGE: Baggage handling is provided. One suitcase per person will be brought to your hotel room. Due to limited space on the motor coach, you are requested to bring one suitcase per person with the dimensions of 30 in. x 18 in. x 10 in. and weight not exceeding 23kg / 50 lbs - plus the travel bag you get with your documents. The travel bag is approximately 38cm in length, 26cm in height and 17cm in depth. It is a soft canvas bag with a front pocket, back pocket and main body section, plus net holder on the side for drink bottles or whatever. It has handles as well as a shoulder strap.

TIPPING The tour has pre-paid certain tips and gratuities for you such as all baggage handling at hotels and ports. Tips to restaurant staff for meals are also included in the price of your tour. Tips are customarily given to your Tour Director, Driver and Local Guides at your discretion. The recommended amounts are: Tour Directors US$4 per day, Drivers US$2.50 per day and Local Guides US$1 per day.
