Day 3 - Athens sightseeing & at leisure
We enjoy a morning walking tour of the Acropolis and Parthenon. Wealso see the Agora, Royal Palace, the Temple of Zeus, Hadrian''sArch, and the stadium built for the first modern Olympics in 1896before we enjoy free time. (Buffet breakfast)
Day 4 - Athens - Nauplia
We drive to the bridge across the Corinth Canal. Then we visit theremains of the ancient city of Corinth, en route to Mycenae, to seethe Beehive Tombs, the Treasury of Atreus, Lion Gate and remains ofAgamemnon''s Royal Palace. On to the Sanctuary of Aesculapius, Godof Medicine, to visit the amphitheater. Finally, we arrive inNauplia. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner) Hotel: Amalia Nauphlia
Day 5 - Nauplia - Olympia
Today we drive through the Mountains of Arcadia to Olympia, wherethe first Olympic Games were held in 776 BC. Next we stroll aroundthe ancient Olympic stadium and the Temples of Zeus and Hera on ourvisit of this archaeological site. Tonight we dine at ourhotel. Day 6 - Olympia - Delphi
We head to Patras and take the bridge across the Gulf of Corinth tomainland Greece. Then on to Delphi on the slopes of mighty MountParnassus, home of the Oracle. Day 7 - Delphi - Kalambaka
A picturesque morning drive brings us to Thermopylae, famous forthe heroic defense by Leonidas and his brave Spartans against theinvading Persians. Day 8 - Kalambaka - Athens
We visit two of the monasteries of Meteora, perched high above thetown. Then a scenic drive brings us back to the fascinating capitalof Greece, Athens. Day 9 - Depart on cruise
This morning we are transferred to the port of Piraeus to board ourcruise ship, our home for the next seven nights. Relax on board aswe cruise towards Turkey. (Buffet breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 10 - Cruising - Istanbul
We arrive in Istanbul in the morning and have until the evening toenjoy this fabled city. Perhaps take an excursion to see thehighlights of Istanbul or visit the Blue Mosque and St. Sofia.Maybe even enjoy some Turkish belly-dancing before we set sail forthe playground of the rich and famous, the beautiful island ofMykonos. Day 11 - Cruising - Mykonos
We arrive at Mykonos, renowned for its windmills, this afternoon.There is time to shop in the amazing labyrinth of narrow littlealleyways or just to relax and enjoy a cool drink in a tavernaoverlooking the Mediterranean. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 12 - Cruising - At Sea
Time to relax and enjoy the ship''s facilities as we cruise toIsrael. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 13 - Cruising - Ashdod - Jerusalem excursion
We dock in Ashdod this morning and drive through the JudeanMountains to Jerusalem, one of the oldest towns in the world. Onarrival we will drive through the New City to the Mount of Oliveswith wonderful views over the Old City. Then on foot we will enterthe Old City and reach the Via Dolorosa, the route Jesus took tohis crucifixion. We see the Church of the Holy Sepulchre thencontinue to the Jewish Quarter and the Wailing Wall, the locationof King Solomon''s Temple wherenow stands the Dome of the Rock. We walk through the Bazaarand have lunch in a restaurant. Afterwards we drive to Bethlehem tovisit the Church of the Nativity and have some free time beforereturning to our ship in Ashdod. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 14 - Cruising - Port Said - Cairo & Pyramids excursion
We dock in Port Said at the entrance to the Suez Canal. Today wehave a full day excursion to Cairo where we visit the EgyptianMuseum, home of King Tutankhamen''s priceless treasures, discoveredby Howard Carter in the Valley of the Kings in 1922. After anincluded lunch, we drive to see the only remaining Wonder of theAncient World, the great Pyramids of Giza, overlooked by theinscrutable Sphinx. After free time to shop and take pictures wereturn to our ship which has sailed during the day to Alexandria.(Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 15 - Cruising - Agios Nikolaos, Crete
In the afternoon we arrive at the picturesque port of AgiosNikolaos on the island of Crete. Maybe take an optional excursionto see the Palace of Knossos, associated with the King Minos andthe legendary Minotaur? Then we return to the ship for our lastnights'' entertainment on board. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 16 - Piraeus - Athens
We disembark in Piraeus and are transferred back to our hotel inAthens. Time for last-minute shopping or sightseeing, or just torelax in a pavement café. (Breakfast)Hotel: Atheneum Intercontinental
Day 17 - Athens - USA

In a group of 9 passengers, 1 traveller qualifies for a 50% discount off the LAND-only portion of the tour. In a group of 16 passengers, 1 traveller qualifies for 100% discount off the LAND-only portion of the tour.

With this in mind, on the majority of our itineraries, Trafalgar offers you the opportunity to purchase these tours on a room-sharing basis. We will accommodate you with a fellow passenger of the same gender on a ‘two-bedded’ basis (non-smoking rooms only). Please note that, regrettably, we cannot guarantee that room mates will be of a similar age group. Even so, it is an enjoyable way to travel and get to make new friends, and a positive way to stretch your holiday budget. If we fail to match you, we will provide a single room at no extra cost.
